About Me: A Journey from TRS-80 to Full Stack Engineering

My journey into the world of technology began when I was eight years old, with my first computer—a TRS-80. Armed with nothing but curiosity and a few BASIC manuals, I created my first car racing game from scratch. That early spark of passion set me on a lifelong path of innovation, problem-solving, and engineering.

With over two decades of entrepreneurial and technical experience, I’ve worn many hats. I founded and grew Citadel Auto Glass, where I honed not just my business acumen but also my digital marketing skills, leveraging SEO and social media to drive engagement. After a successful 21-year run, I sold the business in 2021, marking a significant milestone in my professional journey.

As a self-taught developer, I’ve been building web applications and coded solutions since I was a kid. This natural inclination led me to transition into software development at Volt Labs, a seed-stage startup specializing in SMS A2P messaging. As a Software Engineer and eventually Head of Customer Onboarding, during my tenure there the company achieved profitability and we increased the ARR by 7x. My role involved everything from engineering platform services to ensuring seamless API integrations for clients. In my three years at Volt, I became proficient in full-stack development, specializing in AWS, PostgreSQL, API development, and front-end technologies like React and Angular.

With a keen interest in cloud infrastructure and API development, I’ve also worked extensively with microservices, serverless architecture, and database management systems. I bring not only a technical mindset but also the experience of scaling a company while fostering client relationships.

Looking forward, I’m excited to continue building cutting-edge solutions, leveraging both my business and technical expertise. From coding my first car game on a TRS-80 to contributing to multi-million-dollar ARR growth at a tech startup, my passion for technology remains as strong as ever.
